Tesla Service is Getting Better
I recently had Tesla mobile service come to my car where I live and fix an issue with my seat. It was all covered under warranty, easy, and done in 15 minutes. Tesla service is improving.
Tesla recently released a video on their YouTube channel talking about support for the Model 3 and Model Y. Like most computers, if there is an issue with a Tesla, this can generally be solved by holding down both scroll wheels for 5 seconds, seeing the screen reboot and letting go of the scroll wheels. Generally this will fix a lot of problems.
There is also the option of mobile service and roadside assistance for more severe problems. Mobile service was easy to use from the Tesla app on my phone. All communication was done that way including the dates and times. I also got a text from the Tesla service employee when they were on their way.
Roadside assistance is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is an option for roadside assistance using the Tesla app. There is also a monitoring of progress through the app. It’s also a good idea to have the phone number for roadside assistance in your phone. You can also access it via the Tesla center console.
Tesla will show you cost estimates, and the date they will help service your vehicle via the Tesla app. I think this is the future of service. It should be rare to have to go into an actual service center. But, if you do, there should be plenty of service centers around to solve your issue quickly.
Tesla will need to continue to up their game when it comes to service centers. There are about 3 million Tesla vehicles on the road now, but this will get to 100 million Tesla vehicles eventually. With this huge number, it will be important to have a plethora of service centers to handle issues.
What will happen when robotaxis starts to flood the roads and autonomy becomes the new way to do ride sharing? I think this will increase the need for service centers and even an additional thing, which I’ll call a robotaxi center. The robotaxi center will need to have charging and cleaning so that a robotaxi can get topped off and back on the road as soon as possible.
A robotaxi center should also have the ability to rotate tires and replace tires, although this isn’t as important because it’s not going to be happening as often. But I do think it will still be important and if this is automated at a robotaxi center, even better.
