Iowa high school football live updates, analysis from Week 5 games

As is the case every year, the Iowa high school football season hits warp speed once games get rolling. It takes a split second to go from Week 1 to the midseason. UNI-Dome talks will be here soon enough.

That’s once again true as we march into Week 5 of the 2022 high school football season. As always, we have reporters and photographers spread throughout Iowa to bring you plenty of analysis, commentary and more from another Friday night.

A quick check-in of where everyone is this evening:

Cody Goodwin: Bondurant-Farrar vs. Carlisle

Alyssa Hertel: Spirit Lake vs. OABCIG

Raven Moore: Iowa City High vs. Iowa City West

Joe Randleman: Gilbert vs. Nevada

Matt Levins: Clinton vs. Burlington

7:11 pm — Sioux City East with an early lead over Ankeny Centennial

7:05 pm — Nolan DeLong continues balling out.

We highlighted the Durant running back last week as one of a few Iowa high school football players approaching significant records.

Well, DeLong is at it again early.

7 pm — Big wave of Iowa high school football games getting underway.

Those lucky enough to avoid a JV-induced delay are starting at 7 pm Let’s have a night.

6:35 pm — Signs of fall have arrived at various Iowa high school football games.

It’s in the 50s in several different parts of Iowa. Strong bet we’ll see a lot of blankets in the stands tonight.

6:07 pm — Spirit Lake-OABCIG should be a dandy.

After a big Friday of Class 5A action last week, the Register is out tonight at maybe the best game in the state. Cooper DeJean’s alma mater faces Spirit Lake in a battle of unbeatens.
