Driver Runs From Stolen Mercedes Crash With Bus In Mastic Beach: Cops

MASTIC BEACH, NY — A driver crashed a stolen Mercedes-Benz into a Suffolk Transit Bus in Mastic Beach, then bolted, leaving behind car passengers Wednesday morning, Suffolk police said.

A 2021 Mercedes was traveling northbound on Dalia Road around 8 am when it blew a stop sign at Neighborhood Road and struck the westbound bus, and another vehicle, according to police.

The driver of the Mercedes, which had been reported stolen from Dix ​​Hills about an hour before the crash, ran away, police said.

The Mercedes’ three passengers were not injured and were not arrested, according to police.

Three bus riders had minor injuries and the driver of the third vehicle, who was alone in his car, was not injured, police said.
